Process
The assignments given here will follow a pattern, though the details of each may change. The content of these projects will not necessarily have any relation to the main campaign you are working on. Beginning the first week on which one of these projects is given, the pattern will be as follows, unless stated otherwise in the brief:
Class Day 1: Logo(s) assigned, 15 sketches due next class to be reviewed
Class Day 2: Sketches reviewed, best sketch chosen, direction given and chosen logo to be worked on and finalized by next class
Class Day 3: Logo Due, informal class review of the marks
General Specifications
Unless stated otherwise in project instructions
- Mark should fit within a 2×2 inch square (not a visible square), centered in 6×6 inch artboard.
- Submissions as press-quality PDF
Submission
You will place a pdf of your file with fonts embedded in the dropbox labeled [lastname_f-logo#] in the dropbox by the beginning of class on the due date, and also print out a black and white copy of the mark for class review by the beginning of class.
Project 1
You are to create two options for a new logo for the Amarillo Public Library. The information you have to work with is that on their website, and the fact that some within the group are hesitant to move away from their current logo because they think it is great. They particularly like the books and the varying colors.
You are to present two professionally built (vector of course) logo options, one which pays respect to the old mark and one which should be a vast departure.
Due 9-24-15, in color. You must have at least 15 sketches as well, which you will turn in.
Project 2
You are to create two solid options for a logo for AC Visual Arts, which includes graphic design, animation and photography. The purpose of the logo is to use on materials the department would like to release and produce that are under the control of the visual arts folks, as opposed to AC as a whole. For this reason, the AC logo cannot be included in the mark. And really, it shouldn’t.
As with most projects which include multiple options, the two versions should be vastly different but also strong in their own right.
15 Sketches due for review by 10-6, full vector marks due by 10-8. That means you should get your sketches reviewed before the indicated time if you can.
